The Children who will be making their First Communion next May and their parents attended the children’s Mass on 28th September. During the Mass they enrolled in the parish preparation programme “Do this in memory of me.’ This programme complements the excellent work of preparation that takes place in the schools. It highlights the importance of the Eucharist as a celebration where we gather, are nourished by the Word and the Bread of Life, and are sent forth to live the Gospel. The home is a place where he children’s faith is nourished. The School, the home and the parish join together in the children’s preparation for their First Communion.

During the Ceremony the children promised to get to know God better by coming to Mass and by praying at home with their family. The parents promised to help their children to take part in the programme and to accompany them to Mass and encourage them on their journey. The children received a white ribbon which they will wear at Mass during the year. They will also come forward for a blessing at communion time One of the communicants and his mother lit our candle which will be lit at all our preparation Masses this year. Christ is our light on our journey of preparation for First Communion. We ask the community to remember these children and their families during this special time.
